Complex world. Simple copy. Strong ties. Inspired action.
I have two life dreams.
The first: Be the mayor of a small town.
The second: Live in a pocket neighborhood.
Pocket neighborhoods are tiny housing developments designed around a common space to foster a sense of strong, interdependent community and personal privacy.
The creator of these neighborhoods, Ross Chapin, designed developments around a simple idea: “When a small group of people are together, conversation is spontaneous.”
Spontaneous.
Pocket neighborhoods create serendipity — unexpected moments of connection.
Serendipity. Connection. Spontaneous encounters. Shared space. Interdependent community. Reliable support.
I want to create copy pocket neighborhoods.
That is, I want to use effective online messaging to create real-world opportunities for connection. I want people to see themselves in copy and think, “Oh, I’m not the only one thinking that?”
I think effective copywriting can deliver heart and soul. A twilight, porch-swing-and-coffee, neighbor element that helps people feel heard and seen.
I take a guerilla gardening approach to copywriting — I want to create meaning in the least expected places. Like the field of lavender I saw growing in a highway median.
I type with my ear to the ground, eyes on a porch-swing future and soul poured out on the keys. And it’s a win for both people and business.
